Mirror Palace Salon Victoria

Mirror palaces were constructed in the Netherlands and Belgium around 1900 and used as mobile dance pavilions. The many mirrors enabled visitors to make eye contact without disturbing other visitors or being noticed. The mirror palaces became the favourite meeting place of night owls, heartbreakers and dreamers and thus rightfully also came to symbolise the era's extravagant nightlife.

In  November 2010, Salon Victoria mirror palace will be built up in the vicinity of Amsterdam Arena. With cosy compartments, warm mahogany colours and endless reflections created by thousands of candles, Salon Victoria will transport you back to the start of the last century and to the days when our grandparents danced to the music of organs and orchestras as youngsters.

Thanks  to the Klessens family from Belgium, the old, beautifully decorated mirror palaces were not forgotten. A long-standing family tradition means that the palaces now still offer the same beauty and splendour of times gone by. The fans of cut mirrors, stained-glass windows, stunning traditional wood carvings, abundance of crystal and gold-stitched red velvet bring the glory of the past and of these  treasure-troves of desire back to life.
